HOW FSCA GOVERNS

The FSCA adheres to the Policy Governance Model (John Carver) which delineates role and responsibilities of Governance from Operations.

For Governance, the Board of Directors has the overall responsibility of the Association, that includes:

  1. Duty of care for and loyalty to the Association.
  2. Based on member interactions, the board sets Ends Policies for FSCA. Ends Policies are global accomplishments for what the board expects the Association to achieve.
  3. The Board writes policies that guide the work of the board, and the relationship between the Directors and the Executive Director.
  4. The Board establishes limitations on, and monitors the work of the Executive Director within the parameters the board has established.
  5. The board monitors itself and conduct against its own governance policies.

For Operations, the FSCA Executive Director manages the day-to-day, operations of the Association, and is the link to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director, with volunteer committee chairs and members, work together to determine how to accomplish the desired global accomplishments (Ends Policies) set forth by the Board of Directors.
