The Rising Star award is for a school counselor, new to the profession, with 3 years or less of experience by June 15, 2026. The nominee has demonstrated the highest standards of professional practice, outstanding contributions to their school community and/or profession, and has shown leadership potential. Open to FSCA Members. The nominator and nominee must have current FSCA memberships.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the Rising Star Award, the nominee must:
- be employed as a full-time school counselor;
- have no more than three years of experience;
- be a Florida Department of Education certified school counselor;
- be nominated by a current FSCA member; and
- be a current FSCA member.

Nomination Packet
- Cover sheet with personal contact information of nominator and nominee.
- Three letters of support. One letter from each: a FSCA member, the school administrator, a school counselor colleague.
Letters specifically detail the following:
- Describe how the nominee has demonstrated the highest standards of professional competence;
- Describe the outstanding contributions the nominee has made to the school community or profession;
- Describe how the nominee has demonstrated outstanding leadership; and,
- Describe how the nominee has demonstrated strong rapport with students, parents, and school personnel.
All nomination elements should be uploaded as ONE packet with NOMINEE’S last name and award name.
