The Florida School Counselor of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding school counselor in the state of Florida. The FL SCOY is recognized at the Annual FSCA Convention during our awards luncheon. The Florida School Counselor of the Year also joins the top school counselors from each state at the annual Counselor of the Year Gala in Washington D.C.

CALL FOR SCOY Nominations 2026

The Florida School Counselor Association (FSCA) Awards and Professional Recognition Committee invites school counseling professionals from around the state to nominate a school counselor for the 2026 Florida School Counselor of the Year (SCOY) Award.

Who May Nominate

• FSCA Chapters, district and school level educators may nominate a school counselor;
• FSCA members may nominate a colleague; or,
• A school counselor may self-nominate.

Eligibility

Nominees must:

• Have completed 3 years of school counseling service by June 15, 2025;
• Be a current FSCA professional member as of June 15, 2025; and,
• Be employed as a DOE certified full-time school counselor for the SY 2025-2026.

HOW TO NOMINATE

1. Visit www.fsca.schoolcounselorawards.org/scoy/index and click on "Nominate Someone".
2. Create an account in the Awards Portal (NOTE: this is different from your FSCA membership account), or sign in if you have used the portal in the past. 
3. Submit your nomination!

• Nominations are open until April 11, at 11:59 pm Eastern Time.
• Nominees will be contacted after April 11 about next steps.
